More rumors (as I try to avoid puking from disgust)

One more day until we can finally be free of the burden that is Aramis Ramirez. I mean, why would you want a guy who put up numbers comparable to A-Rod this season, because he's obviously worthless. Also, you could trade for A-Rod! Get rid of even more young guys to further deplete and already depleted farm system! We can't lose in this situation!

Ok, I have now reconfirmed that Jim Hendry is rage-inducingly retarded. Seriously, I cannot say enough how much of a necessity it is to keep Aramis Ramirez on the Cubs. Because who do we fill his spot with? THERE'S NO ONE. The shear stupidity that has kept Ramirez from re-signing this long is disgusting. Why, why would you let someone like this just walk out the door, especially when you refused to trade him at the deadline???

I would think that re-signing Ramirez would be one of the moves to save Hendry's own ass, since he did, in fact, not trade Ramirez at the trade deadline. Welp, might as well just let him walk away, as Juan Pierre is (not that I'm upset Pierre is leaving, but we could have gotten something back for him, since we so obviously gave up way too much for him).

Sidenote, it seems that Hendry basically just stopped doing his job this past season. He made no efforts to trade anyone at the deadline; aside from perhaps Neifi, everyone else negotiated their own trades out of Chicago.

So, Hendry would rather just tear this fucking team apart. He can't make enough terrible moves apparently. I know! Let's bring in David Bell, but pay him $80 million over 5 years, because he's totally not worth it! But, let's not give Aramis the extra $1 million dollars per year that he wants over the contract he was offered! That would be stupid! David Bell sucks, but Aramis does not, so, I'm assuming this is Hendry's game plan.

Also, that is correct, Aramis wants somewhere around a 5 year, $75 million deal, and the Cubs offered 5 at $70. Uh, I'm pretty sure Aramis could easily get that on the free agent market. Maybe we should, you know, shell out the extra fucking $1 million to keep him in Chicago, since he obviously wants to stay. He could probably easily get 6 at $95 if he wanted. Fucking Hendry.

Well, in addition to all of Hendry's bullshit that will result in our losing of another key player, there is news that Piniella said who was in the Cubs gameplan to get this offseason. The players are Soriano, Gary Matthews Jr., Barry Zito and Jason Schmidt. They did also post a bid on Daisuke Matsuzaka or however you spell his name, but they probably can't beat out anyone for him.

Anyways, also published yesterday was the Dodgers list of players they're pursuing. The players on that list? IT'S THE EXACT SAME LIST. This means that not only will the Cubs not sign any of the players on this list, but half of them will sign with the Dodgers and then both of those players will collide with Derrek Lee at first base, injuring his wrist for the majority of the season. Oh, did I mention the Dodgers also plan on making a play for Ramirez? So Ramirez will also collide at first with Lee, injuring his wrist for most of the year. Players we lose to the Dodgers, either through bidding wars or just free agency will continue to haunt Derrek Lee's nightmares.

Might as well add another player to the list of players the Cubs are likely pursuing also. J.D. Drew opted out of his contract with the Dodgers, thinking he could get something better than $11 million for 3 years. Well, I doubt that happens, but the Cubs are reportedly interested. I suppose we could do worse, like trading for Gary Sheffield.

I am now completely cynical of any abilities Jim Hendry may have to put together a team. But, at least, as we've all seen, he is able to take a vacation DURING THE SEASON. If Ramirez leaves, Hendry might as well be fired, because he is TRADING AWAY THE FARM SYSTEM, and then LETTING PLAYERS WALK AWAY. If I sucked half as bad at my job as he sucked at his I would have been fired months ago and I would probably be finished collecting unemployment. Way to go Cubs management, letting this bastard stay on long enough to complete tearing the team apart.
